Maxspect’s Nano-Tech Bio-Blocks are a durrable dense arangement of small spheres creating an ultra-high surface area media which reduces the volume of biomedia actually required for efficient nutrient cycling in both fresh and saltwater aquariums and ponds. This unique ceramic media has a cross-cutting surface area that creates an ideal surface for a dense populations of beneficial bacteria that remove ammonia and nitrites from aquariums water. Some systems may also notice a decrease in nitrates with prolong use. Suitable for sumps, reactors trickle filters, wet/dry filters, hang on the back filters or directly in the tank.
The Maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Media is developed using established technology borrowed from the sewage treatment industry with a proven record of nutrient removal of waste water. Instead of using mounds of costly live rock within the aquarium for biological surface we now have the option to regain more space and less weight in our aquariums and sumps.

Each retail pack contains 2 x blocks measuring 4" x 4" x 1" (10x 10x 2.5cm). The total surface area of each block is 1080 m² or 11625 ft². Suitable for use in freshwater and marine environments. Each block can treat 1425 L of water.

Only a quarter of the size of a marine pure block but with loads more capacity for bacteria. They are also capable of achieving anaerobic filtration as well as airobic filtration which most can't. Also these are tough. Really tough. They don't crumble, dent or break as soon as you touch them loosing valuable real estate. I tried cutting one in half with an electric saw and it took the best part of an hour. They are manufactured from bead like particles so any muck that gets stuck on them breaks down and passes through with the flow in self cleaning fashion. And being smaller means you can fit many times more bio filtration in your sump space. I've even used small amounts of sealer to glue them together as a platform to raise my skimmer. Awesome product.
