API® 5 in 1 TEST STRIPS are the quick and easy way to test the 5 most important aquarium water parameters – pH, KH, GH, nitrate, and nitrite – in one easy step. Simply dip one test strip directly into the aquarium, and compare the colours on the strip to the colour card provided to help prevent invisible water problems that can be harmful to fish. Each kit includes detailed information on how to interpret the test results and correct unsafe water conditions.
  • How do API 5-IN-1 TEST STRIPS work?
Test strips are a fast and easy way to test your aquarium water parameters! Simply dip a strip into your water and swirl two times, then remove the strip and hold flat to evaluate colour changes. Compare these colours to the colour chart included with API 5-IN-1 TEST STRIPS, and treat your water accordingly.
  • How accurate are API 5-IN-1 TEST STRIPS?
API 5-IN-1 TEST STRIPS are highly accurate in measuring water parameters when used as directed.

API 5 in 1 Test Strips 25 Strips
These dip tests are a rapid way of getting an idea of the water quality in a pond, even though they are not as precise or accurate as separate test kits. When I've compared the results to separate checks on individual test kits, the hardness checks (GH and KH) have been close; the pH is usually within 0.5 of the result (not great, but much better than the pH results on most other dip tests I've used); the NO2 scale only picks up higher levels, so can only be a useful warning in extreme cases; the NO3 is very swift compared to liquid tests, and adequate for higher levels of nitrates (over 10-20ppm) - a low level test kit would be needed if levels under 10ppm were being investigated.
