PhosBond is an innovative filtration media designed to effectively remove phosphates and silicates from both saltwater and freshwater aquariums. This advanced product uniquely combines the phosphate-binding properties of aluminum oxide and granular ferric oxide, creating a synergistic effect that enhances its performance. Its high porosity and extensive surface area provide a large binding capacity, while its robust physical strength ensures durability against mechanical stress.
Ideal for use in canister filters, media chambers, box filters, or any high-flow section of a trickle filter, PhosBond should be rinsed prior to use to optimize efficiency. It is recommended to place the media where water flow is maximized without causing the material to tumble against itself. Utilizing a filter bag helps contain the media and maintain its effectiveness.
For optimal results, apply approximately 60 mL (¼ cup) of PhosBond per 200 L (50 US gallons) of saltwater or 400 L (100 US gallons) of freshwater. Leave the media in place for four days before testing phosphate or silicate levels using appropriate test kits. If concentrations have not decreased to about 0.02 mg/L, replace the media; otherwise, continue use until levels begin to rise again. PhosBond is not an ion exchange resin and does not release phosphates or silicates back into the water, allowing it to be removed, dried, and reused until fully exhausted. Consistent use of small amounts is more effective than intermittent large doses.
This reliable and efficient media supports maintaining pristine water conditions by controlling phosphate and silicate levels, thereby promoting healthier aquatic environments. Whether for freshwater or marine setups, PhosBond offers a powerful solution for phosphate management and filtration needs.
