Iron is immobile in plants, meaning it cannot be transported from older leaves to new growth. As a result, deficiency symptoms first appear on young or new leaves. Since iron is essential for chlorophyll production, a lack of iron causes chlorosis—yellowing of the younger leaves. Stems may also become short and slender, and with severe, prolonged deficiency, each new leaf emerges progressively lighter in color than the last.

This product is a concentrated (10,000 mg/L) source of ferrous iron, combining readily available and time-released forms to ensure sustained iron availability.

If iron is supplied in the ferric form (Fe3+), plants must expend energy to reduce it to the ferrous form (Fe2+) before utilization. This product delivers iron already in the ferrous form, enhancing iron uptake efficiency. Additionally, it contains a reducing agent that converts other iron sources, such as substrate iron, into the ferrous form, further improving iron availability.

Directions

Use 5 mL per 200 L (50 US gallons) of water three times per week, or as needed to maintain approximately 0.10 mg/L iron concentration.
