PhosGuard™ is a highly effective filtration media designed to rapidly remove phosphate and silicate from both marine and freshwater aquaria, enhancing water quality and promoting a healthier aquatic environment. Its bead-shaped, highly porous structure ensures optimal water flow and high capacity, outperforming competing products in phosphate management.
Ideal for use in canister filters, box filters, trickle filters, or any high-flow areas, PhosGuard™ maximizes contact with water to efficiently reduce unwanted phosphate and silicate levels. It is important to note that PhosGuard™ is not recommended for phosphate-buffered freshwater systems.
For best results, use approximately 250 mL of PhosGuard™ per 300 L (75 gallons) of aquarium water. Place the media to ensure maximum water flow through it, either directly or inside a filter bag if necessary. Leave the product in place for about 4 days, then test phosphate or silicate concentrations using appropriate test kits. If levels have not dropped to around 0.02 mg/L, replace the media; otherwise, continue using it until levels begin to rise again. Continuous use of smaller quantities is more effective than intermittent large doses.
PhosGuard™ is not an ion exchange resin and does not leach phosphate or silicate back into the water, ensuring safe and stable water chemistry. It can be removed, dried, and reused until fully exhausted, making it a cost-effective solution for ongoing phosphate and silicate control. Each 500 mL treats over 600 L (150 gallons) of water, efficiently removing up to 30 mg/L phosphate depending on initial concentrations and biological load.
