The Tunze Comline DOC Skimmer 9012 DC HUB Edition offers quieter performance and lower energy use compared to earlier models. Designed for safety with an extra-low 12V voltage, it suits marine tanks ranging from 300 to 1,000 liters (79 to 317 US gallons) depending on tank conditions. It has an immersion depth between 255 and 285 mm (10" to 11") and a skimmer cup capacity of 0.7 liters (0.18 US gallons). With an air output of approximately 400 liters per hour (105.7 US gallons/hour) and consuming only 9 W of power, it combines efficiency with reliability. The 3-meter cable connects to the WiFi Turbelle® controller, and a silent magnet holder supports glass up to 15 mm thick.

Each marine aquarium’s unique biotope affects its tolerance to organic waste. While recommendations are based on a standard setup with leather corals, tank sizes suitable for this skimmer may vary with different biotopes. For more delicate ecosystems, it’s advisable to choose a skimmer designed for smaller volumes to ensure optimal performance and water quality.

In aquariums with leather corals, long-polyp corals, and anemones, the organic matter load can be higher and sometimes essential, allowing use of the DOC Skimmer at its full recommended capacity. For mixed tanks with leather and stony (LPS) corals, as well as filters and sponges, the skimmer’s effective capacity should be reduced by about 40%. For small-polyp stony coral (SPS) tanks requiring crystal-clear water and minimal nutrients, a 60% reduction in skimmer capacity is advised. In heavily stocked hard coral (SPS) tanks with many fish, up to a 70% reduction is needed for optimal water purity. Similarly, breeding tanks with plankton or stone coral setups require a 70% reduced skimmer capacity to maintain ideal conditions.

Utilizing the TUNZE® flash skimming method, it efficiently removes surface film through powerful surface suction, making it ideal as a stand-alone filtration solution. Its advanced foamer produces a high volume of fine, quiet air bubbles between 0.1 and 0.3 mm in size, while silicone buffers minimize vibrations to protect your aquarium glass. Delivered ready to install with a magnetic holder for glass up to 15 mm thick.

The drive unit features a 57% larger active surface than the previous model, allowing efficient foam production even at very low and quiet operating speeds.
