Every tank here holds at least 19 litres and has a lid and a filter you can turn down, which is what a betta needs to thrive. Add a small heater and you're ready to go. Not sure where to start? Read our betta fish care guide.
What size tank does a betta need?
At least 20 litres for one betta, and 30 litres or more if you'd like to add tank mates. A bigger tank holds its temperature and water quality better, so it's actually easier to look after than a small one.
What to add
Every betta tank needs a heater set to around 26°C. A UK room is too cold without one. Add live plants with broad leaves for resting, and choose decor without sharp edges. For keeping more than one male in one tank, see our Aqua One Betta range of divided tanks.
Betta tank FAQs
Can a betta live in a bowl?
No. A bowl can't hold a heater or a proper filter, so the water gets cold and dirty quickly. Choose a heated, filtered tank of 20 litres or more.
Do betta tanks need a lid?
Yes. Bettas can jump, so every tank in this range has a lid or cover.
What filter is best for a betta?
A gentle one. Bettas have long fins and tire in strong currents, so pick a tank whose filter flow you can turn down.
