What is a HelloReef aquarium kit?
A HelloReef aquarium kit is a complete, beginner-friendly saltwater setup that includes everything you need to start a reef tank. Each kit comes with a glass aquarium, hidden filtration, return pump, circulation pump, LED lighting, heater, sand, live rock, salt mix, beneficial bacteria, and essential tools. Unlike other starter tanks, HelloReef also provides access to digital video guides through HelloReef Connect, so you can follow step-by-step instructions for setup and care.
What comes in the HelloReef 15 Gallon Beginner Saltwater Kit?
The HelloReef 15 Gallon kit includes a 15-gallon rimless glass aquarium with hidden rear filtration, return pump, circulation pump, LED reef lighting, heater, thermometer, sand, live rock, salt mix, and bottled bacteria. Accessories such as a scraper, gloves, and epoxy are also provided to make setup and maintenance easy. This all-in-one package eliminates the need to research and buy equipment separately.
How does HelloReef Connect work?
HelloReef Connect is an online learning platform that comes free with every HelloReef kit. It provides short, practical video guides covering setup, cycling, livestock care, and regular maintenance. The videos are designed for beginners and help take the uncertainty out of reef keeping. You can access the platform by scanning the QR code included in your kit or registering with the provided code.
What size HelloReef aquariums are available?
The flagship HelloReef kit is the 15 Gallon Beginner Saltwater Aquarium Kit, which is compact enough to fit in most homes while still offering space for fish, corals, and aquascaping. Additional themed kits, such as the Clownfish and Anemone Aquarium Kit, are also available. These options make HelloReef an ideal choice for nano reef enthusiasts and first-time aquarists.
Does HelloReef support ocean conservation?
Yes. A portion of HelloReef’s proceeds go toward coral reef restoration and ocean conservation projects. When you buy a HelloReef kit, you’re not only starting your own reef at home but also contributing to protecting marine ecosystems worldwide.
Is HelloReef suitable for beginners?
Yes. HelloReef is designed specifically for first-time reef keepers. The kits simplify the process by including all the essential equipment and materials in one box. With HelloReef Connect, beginners get easy-to-follow videos on cycling the tank, performing maintenance, and safely adding fish or corals. This guided approach makes HelloReef one of the best saltwater aquarium starter kits for beginners in the UK.
Can I keep corals in a HelloReef tank?
Yes, HelloReef tanks are reef-ready. The included LED lighting is designed to support beginner corals, such as soft corals and anemones, as well as popular marine fish like clownfish. For more advanced corals such as SPS, additional equipment like dosing pumps and test kits may be required, but the HelloReef system provides an excellent foundation for coral growth.
Do I need any extra equipment with HelloReef?
HelloReef kits include everything needed to get started, but as your reef develops you may choose to add extras like an auto top-off system, protein skimmer, or dosing pumps for advanced coral care. You’ll also need to purchase saltwater test kits, food for your fish and corals, and freshwater for top-offs and water changes. Charterhouse Aquatics stocks all compatible accessories and consumables.
