Small Fish Tanks

Small fish tanks and nano aquariums are perfect when space is tight, whether that's a desk, a bedroom shelf or a kitchen worktop. Choose from compact freshwater kits for a single Betta, shrimp or a small group of tetras, through to all-in-one nano reef tanks for corals and clownfish. We stock small tanks from Fluval, Aquael, Ciano, biOrb, UNS, Red Sea and more.

Small Fish Tank FAQs

We have answers. Get quick help for common questions.

1. What counts as a small fish tank?
Usually anything up to about 60 litres. Nano tanks are often 10 to 40 litres and fit on a desk, worktop or shelf.
3. Are small tanks harder to look after?
A smaller volume of water changes faster, so temperature and water quality can swing more quickly. Light stocking, careful feeding and small, regular water changes keep a nano tank stable.
5. Can I keep a reef in a small tank?
Yes. All-in-one nano reef kits from brands such as Red Sea, Fluval and UNS are built for small marine setups. They need stable salinity and regular testing, so they suit keepers ready for a little more care.
2. What fish can I keep in a small tank?
Choose small, peaceful species such as a single Betta, small tetras, rasboras, endlers or dwarf shrimp. Avoid fish that grow large or need lots of swimming space, such as goldfish and most cichlids.
4. Does a small fish tank need a filter and heater?
Every tank needs a filter, and tropical fish also need a heater. Many of our kits include a filter and lighting, so check each listing to see what's in the box before you buy.
6. Where should I put a small fish tank?
On a level, sturdy surface away from direct sunlight, radiators and draughts. Even a small tank is heavy once filled, so make sure the furniture can take the weight.

Good to know

Why are some points pending?

Purchase points have an approval period before they become available. Your balance shows available points separately from pending points.

How long do my points last?

When points expiry applies, your balance stays valid for 365 days from qualifying rewards activity. Earning eligible rewards, redeeming points or a balance adjustment renews that window. Simply visiting the shop does not renew it.

Can I use points with my stamp reward?

Yes. Add your 10% stamp reward code at checkout and switch on your points. Your final saving depends on the eligible product total and any other discount restrictions.

What happens if I return something?

Earned points are adjusted for returns. Points used on refunded products are restored proportionally. If a refund takes a qualifying order below £250, its stamp is removed.
